Luxury holiday cottages in the pretty waterside village
of Flushing near Falmouth, Cornwall.
Whilst convalescing in Falmouth from wounds received during the First World War, architect Cecil Burns drew up
plans to construct The Point – a spectacular 1920’s villa built on the headland at the very end of Flushing village. Cecil’s architects practice is still going strong in Tunbridge Wells, and three generations later The Point
remains very much a part of the family.
Commanding unrivalled views across the water towards Falmouth and out towards St Anthony’s lighthouse,
The Point will make any holiday one to be remembered for many years to come.
The Point sleeps six in three bedrooms, with the benefit of an additional double sofa bed for occasional use.
The master bedroom has a large double bed, and is a pretty room with dual aspect views out towards
Falmouth docks and across to Falmouth town.
The second bedroom has twin beds, whilst the third bedroom has a double bed.
Both of these bedrooms also have sea views across the bay to Falmouth.
There are two lounges – the more traditional of the two has a wood burning stove and bay windows with double
doors leading to a secluded terrace, the perfect spot for al-fresco dining. The second lounge is a later addition
to the property, and has two comfortable sofas, one of which converts to a double bed for occasional use.
Both rooms have extensive sea views.
The sunny dining room is a real feature. Circular in shape, the views towards Falmouth docks are quite simply mesmerising, and many hours can be spent watching the comings and goings in the busy harbour from here.
The modern kitchen is spacious, with a breakfast bar and all modern appliances, including double fan assisted oven, fridge / freezer and dish washer. There are extensive sea views and a side door leads into the pretty terraced garden.
The Point benefits from two bathrooms – one is newly fitted with a huge walk in glass-walled shower cubicle,
while the second retains the original roll-top bath. There is also an additional wc.
The gardens are a particular feature at The Point. To the side of the property is a secluded terraced area perfect
for al-fresco dining. The upper area of the garden is lawned, and leads down to a decked dining area with
spectacular views across the bay and out to sea. Further steps lead down to an amazing area of private beach.
There is even a mooring for those who choose to arrive by boat!
